Lot Details

brown stoneware body. Pyriform shape on a squared and chamfered foot ring. Short neck supported by two ring loops set opposite. Decorated with two bands of turned lines to the upper and lower walls separated by a band of vertical striations. The upper parts dipped in a brown glaze. A pentimento of a ring support faintly visible around the base. Cat. Note/Ref.: Neck from rim to shoulder and one ring support part broken and lost. Good. The attribution to the Chaliang kiln is based on Roxanna M Brown, Legend and reality: early ceramics from South-East Asia (Cologne: Museum fur Ostasiatische Kunst, 1977), catalogue no. 210.
